Before farming, Chang Pao worked as a warehouse forklift driver in Bangkok—a nod to his name, "Chang," which means mechanic. His life pivoted sharply following a severe car accident; while recovering in the hospital, he saw an image of King Rama IX pointing toward a remote, unseen forest. This landscape began appearing repeatedly in his dreams, with the King sowing seeds that grew into coffee plants. Driven by this vivid vision, Pao quit his city job upon his recovery and spent years searching northern Thailand until he finally discovered the exact village from his dreams: Le Tor Glo in Tak province.

Growing coffee is a direct act of forest conservation. His farm has become a hub for deep community connection, drawing in urban roasters and customers who frequently return to the village to help tend the land. His palate has evolved alongside his craft; he now prefers exceptionally light roasts to fully appreciate the unaltered aromas of his harvest.
