Before turning to farming, Chang Pao worked as a warehouse forklift driver in Bangkok—a fitting occupation given his name, “Chang,” which means mechanic. His life took a dramatic turn after a severe car accident. While recovering in the hospital, he saw an image of King Rama IX pointing toward a remote, unseen forest. Soon, this same landscape began haunting his dreams, with the King sowing seeds that grew into lush coffee plants. Driven by these vivid visions, Pao left his city job upon recovery and headed to Northern Thailand to reconnect with his roots. There, he discovered the exact village from his dreams: Le Tor Glo, a Karen community in Tak Province.
